A Psalm for the World- Tips for Day #2
Make sure to first read the Beans and Rice devotional Day #2 if you haven’t already.
Pray for wisdom and the Lord’s guidance above all else in navigating these topics with your children. Below are some kid-friendly tips.
Tuesday, Day #2: Church Planting Efforts in Remote Areas
Read: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”– Matthew 28:19
Talk: Jesus commands us to go and make disciples. God wants us to go across the street and to the ends of the earth to spread the message of hope and love to those who have not yet heard. Northshore is currently supporting pastors in India (112 churches), Philippines (13 churches), Nepal (7 churches), and Nicaragua (4 churches). These groups of believers meet under trees, in adobe brick and bamboo churches, all for the sake of knowing Christ and making Him known.
– What makes a church a church? (followers of Jesus, lead by appointed leaders, who regularly gather for worship, study of the Word, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper.)
– Why is it important as followers of Christ to have a faith community?
-What hardship and difficulties do you think church planters around the world face?
Play: With your family, write a postcard of encouragement to an indigenous church planter in either India, Nicaragua, Nepal, or the Philippines. Give the postcard to Pastor Hilario and it will be sent on the next Short-Term Mission Trip.
Take time and go through the Local/Global Mission Prayer and Involvement Guide with your children to familiarize yourself with some of our church planters across the globe.
Go to the internet and explore one of the countries where we have church plants; search for statistics about believers and churches in the country.
Pray: Pray as a family for God to strengthen, provide for, and encourage churches in remote areas. Pray that the Gospel will continue to go out to those villages and people groups who have not yet heard the name of Jesus. Consider committing to pray for an Unreached People group as a family.
